Rep Council Highlights from September 28th

1. Bargaining: There will be no changes to the makeup of FMEA's Negotiating Team this year. All unit members will be surveyed to determine bargaining priorities, and which article FMEA will choose to open (in addition to compensation which is automatically opened).

2. Shanti Arnold from Ramblewood was the only candidate for the FMEA's open Director-At-Large position so Rep Council voted to formally appoint her to that position. The election requirement was waived because she was uncontested for the position.

3. Rep Council voted to cut approximately $16,000 from FMEA's adopted budget to insure we do not overspend in the 09/10 school year. Money for conferences, board watchers, Day-Of-The-Teacher  gifts,  President and Executive Board expenses, and Rep Council celebration was reduced or eliminated.

4. In December there will be an official vote on whether FMEA will continue with a full-time-release president or return to a part-time president.

5. The District has released their Unaudited Actuals which is the one set of reliable numbers each year. The District finished the 08/09 school year with $4.2M in unrestricted reserves (roughly the same amount as the previous year). The District's restricted balance is $4.1M (approximately $1M more than the previous year).  This growth is probably due to the one-time federal stimulus money.
